Out of Town

I've got a lot to blog about today so hold onto your pants.

This weekend I'm flying to Austin to do an engagement session. I'm actually a little nervous about it because I've never flown alone before. I've only flown three times really and all three times I've either had my mom or husband with me. So wish me luck! But I'm really excited about shooting in Austin. It should be a lot of fun and I should have lots of fun images to share with y'all! I probably won't be able to blog for a couple of days, but check back Monday for these shots!

New Flash/ Dream

Look what I got today! A new flash! It's the 580EX II and I'm pretty excited about it!

I have a question for photographers. Do y'all dream about your job? I mean literally dream about it? Last night I had this dream that I went to a wedding with my old 20D and a memory card that was nearly full and I couldn't delete it yet. And on top of all that I didn't pack an extra battery and the one in my camera was almost empty. I had to frantically call someone to bring me my 5D, a memory card and a battery. All this was going on during their first dance so I wasn't even taking pictures of it! It was actually a pretty scary dream. A photographers nightmare, huh?

Idalou Storms

Last night we had a bit of a storm out here in Idalou and I was in Lubbock for some of it. So my hubby grabbed my camera and took a shot of the lightning to show me. I thought it was pretty cool so I wanted to show you guys!

my new last name...

When you get married it takes forever to switch everything over to your new last name. Yesterday I got my name put on my new bible. It's so strange to change something that you've had for 21 years of your life. I mess up all the time when signing my name and put sarah d... huffman. But for some reason I was really proud of my new last name being on my bible. So I thought I'd share that with y'all.

And to get even more personal I thought I'd share my favorite verse. Anyone who knows me knows how much I worry so this one is pretty special to me.

Can you believe that our little Raider has doubled in size since we got her?? The first time we took her to the vet she weighed 7 lb and today I took her for her second visit and she weighed 14 lb! I feel like her legs get longer every day! She such a great dog and we love her to death. She's not yet getting the concept of potty training yet... anyone have any suggestions??

She's so pretty. Everyone compliments her shiny coat!

These are taken in the car after we got out of the vets office. They were taken with my crappy point and shoot. You'd think I'd have a really awesome point and shoot since I'm a photographer wouldn't ya?

RSC stand for Raider Sisters for Christ and they are a sorority at Tech. Last night I went to speak to them to promote my business and I was really impressed. They seemed like they were really awesome girls that had big hearts and they obviously loved to laugh and have fun. Check out their website.

And since I didn't get a picture of the girls I thought that I'd just post another picture from my wedding... because I love my wedding pictures!!

The After Session

You know how every bride and groom is rushed on their wedding day and really if they don't see each other before the ceremony then we only have a few minutes to get pictures of them before they rush to the reception? Well, I want to start offering "After Sessions" which just means that I go out with the bride and groom when they get back from their honeymoon and get them all decked out in their tux and wedding gown to get really awesome artsy pictures. It will be just like my other sessions, 2 hours around town to get really incredible shots that you and your spouse will love. There will be no rush since y'all won't have a reception to get to and since it's after the wedding the bride won't be quite so nervous about getting her dress dirty. So if you are interested I'm offering a free 11x14 (a $75 value) to the first couple to let me do an after session. Send me an email from my website to let me know if you are interested!

I thought I'd throw in a picture from my perfect wedding day!

Josh and Terisa

Last weekend I photographed Josh and Terisa's wedding. This couple is pretty amazing. I was able to hear their love story and how God brought them together and I was definitely feeling moved. This week they are in Hawaii having the time of their lives! Congratulations!!

These guys were so much fun!

The moms got pretty emotional

Day Trip

Tomorrow my sweet Daddy is turning fifty so I'm going to take a day trip to Abilene to be with him. I'm looking forward to it, because it will be a surprise trip. He's definitely going to be excited!

The picture is a teaser from Josh and Terisa's wedding on Saturday. I'll post more favorites later!

What's the hold up?

Anyone wondered what's been taking me so long to blog? Let me tell you. Our little Raider chewed the cord to our computer mouse in two! What a punk! So today we went and bought a WIRELESS mouse and I'll be blogging much more now!

If anyone was ever curious about where I live then rest assure because I'm about to show you!
Tonight, Shane, my husband went on a mens retreat with our church so I decided to pack up our doggies and drive around Idalou. It was pretty interesting when I stopped in the middle of the street to get a picture and some people came into their front yard to see what I was doing.
Well, if anyone thinks that they live in a small town then think again. I'll show you small. I never thought I'd live in a town this small, but free rent and bills is pretty enticing to newly weds!

Our church where my husband is the youth minister/song leader

Our house- directly across the street from our church. (notice the texas tech flag!)

Go Idalou High School!

The paw prints painted on the streets

My tired puppies. I love that they're both yawning. They were tuckered from all the fun we were having!

Yes, the paw prints lead to the football field. That's Texas for ya.

Our one stop light. It blinks.

Hope y'all enjoyed! : )

gallery wraps

So these are pretty much my favorite thing ever. I've just added these as something I'll be selling! I love them! The one below was a wedding gift from my dear friend Lauren and is basically my favorite thing in my house. It's above our couch in our living room. These are so awesome because you don't have to frame them. The picture curves around the sides and there is a wire on the back for hanging. Ever bride and groom should get one!

Luke & Katie

This is Katie and Luke. They are just about the most awesome people ever. Luke's brother is married to my sister-in-law so I've known him for awhile now. I just think so highly of these two. They are amazing young Christians that are head over heals for each other. And you've got to see how talented Katie is! Check out her website! Congratulations you guys!

this one's not photoshoped or anything, but i had to post it for luke!

It rained on their shoot so we only shot for about an hour then had to finish up the next morning. So, we had to get an umbrella shot.
